In his current position, Steve uses his knowledge and experience in educational technology, e-learning, and best teaching practices as the Academic Curriculum Coordinator/Instructional Designer at the Emily Griffith Technical College.
Steve developed the technology courses paralled with the education sequence classes (Technology and the Exceptional Learner, Technology and Differentiated Instruction, and Technology with Curriculum and Assessment) at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Training faculty and staff using Moodle in course design was part of his responsibilities at MNU.
In his 23 + years experience in K-12 education, he has been an elementary, middle school, and secondary teacher. He was selected for the Missouri STARR program receiving extensive training in best practices including the integration of technology and provided professional development as part of the Central Regional Professional Development Center at UCM.
As an educational technology leader, he has been a trainer for the Technology Leadership Academy in Missouri, a technology specialist for the Blue Springs and Raymore-Peculiar Districts, and the director of technology for the Raymore-Peculiar Districts prior to going to work for MNU. As the director he led the implementation of key technologies such as IP Telophony, digital copiers, and transitioning from Blackboard to Moodle. In 2011 he became a Certified Moodle 2 Administrator and host several Moodle sites for schools and businesses with custom development. In 2013, he became a certified Moodle Course Creator through Moodle.org.
He continues to conduct workshops on integrating technology and best practices, Google and Moodle integratons for districts in Kansas and Missouri as well as national conferences. He served as the President of KC TechNet, a Kansas City Metro educational technology organization and a member of the advisory board for FETC (Florida Educational Technology Conference).
For eight years he has had the privilege of being part of the KC TechNet Annual Conference, chairing the conference committee.
